An Original Vintage Folded One-Sheet Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Brownskin Models (also known as "Where's My Man To-Nite?"), the 1944 Spencer Williams re-edited World War II (WWII) military black African American melodrama ("The show of shows"; "The way to happiness"; "Where is he?"; "All Star - all colored cast, featuring Irvin C. Miller's 'Brownskin Models'"; "None other like it!"; "Meet your sweetheart"; "Peachy pinups"; "Give an ooh, ah 'n' a coupla wows") starring Georgia Kelly, Hugo Martin, Emmet Jackson, 'Pepper' Neely, Mickey McZekkashing, Clarissa Deary, Myra Hemming, the Brownskin Models, and Peachy Pinups. Note that this film was originally released in 1943 as "Marching On", a serious war melodrama about a black deserter who befriends a hobo who dies and is revealed to be his father missing since WWI, and is then discovered in the desert by his grandfather with whom he happens across a Japanese radio post which they attack. However, in 1944 the distributors inserted new footage of preposterous girlie revue scenes, and marketed it as a fun and sexy musical variety film! The movie has advertising that calls it both "Brownskin Models" and "Where's My Man To-Nite", and both are very deceptive! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! It appears that this poster was sent to theaters, to be used in one of two ways. It could either serve as a standard one-sheet, or a theater might choose to cut it into sections, to create "lobby cards" (and in fact, we were consigned some of those lobby cards in the past, without knowing they were trimmed from an example of this poster. We know that this is NOT an uncut set of lobby cards, because the title runs across the entire upper center of the poster, and that would never have been done if this was intended solely to be cut. This is an extremely rare poster as it stands, and even the lobby cards trimmed from it are also extremely rare! Condition: very good. The poster has small separation at the top two crossfolds and some tiny tears in the right and bottom blank borders with a tiny bit of paper loss. There is tiny paper loss in the left of the top horizontal fold and the poster was folded in half an extra time at one time. Learn More about condition grades
