An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Two-Sided Yugoslavian Movie Poster (measures 19 3/4" x 28" [50 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) the 1950s Yugoslavian double-bill release of Ali Baba et les quarante voleurs (released in the U.S. as "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves"), the 1954 Jacques Becker French comedy starring Fernandel, Samia Gamal, Dieter Borsche, Henri Vilbert, and Edouard Delmont AND Jack London, the 1943 Alfred Santell biographical romantic adventure melodrama ("Man alive!"; "He was lover...fighter...war correspondent...pirate...novelist...prospector...and lots more!"; "Here is a MAN!"; "MAMIE... Water-front wanton of his private days on the Barbary coast."; "FREEDA... Belle of the Yukon... Spurned a million dollars for love of Jack London!!"; a highly fictionalized telling of the life of the famous novelist; "The true report of the First American Prisoner of the Japs"; "See the Original March of Death!") starring Michael O'Shea (in the title role as Jack London), Susan Hayward, Osa Massen, Harry Davenport, Frank Craven, Virginia Mayo, Ralph Morgan, and Louise Beavers. Note that the real-life Jack London spent a while as a war correspondent covering the Russian-Japanese War, and this movie makes that a major episode in his life (no doubt because the movie was made in 1943, and thus this famous author became a propaganda tool in our then-current war against the Japanese!). A theater owner needed a poster to advertise a showing of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves but they did not have one, so they took a regular poster for Jack London, and they had someone paint an entire poster for Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves on the back side, in the Hungarian language. So the person who purchases this poster will receive an actual hand-painted original poster, that is on the back of another poster! We have provided an image of each side, but please realize that the winner of this auction will receive ONE poster! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.
UPDATED 09/30/2015: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section. Condition: good. There are some waters stains around the edges of the poster. The poster has various edge defects and the hand painted side of the poster shows signs of wear from being folded for some time and there are some areas of rubbing and smudges scattered throughout but otherwise it is in generally nice condition. The regular side has some pencil writing at lower right but is otherwise in generally nice condition as well.
