Lou Gehrig was a baseball player for the New York Yankees from the 1920s to the 1930s. He set several Major League Baseball records, including most career grand slams and most consecutive games played. He retired from the game in 1939 due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known in North America as Lou Gehrig's disease. He passed away in 1941 at the age of 37.
