Date Sold 8/16/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) It's the Old Army Game, the 1926 A. Edward Sutherland silent romantic screwball comedy ("It's the Old Army Game: Meaning 'Never Give A Sucker An Even Break'"; "From the play by Joseph P. McEvoy"; about a drugstore owner who leases space to a man selling real estate, and when it appears the man swindled people, the drugstore owner leaves town and has all sorts of adventures) starring W.C. Fields, Louise Brooks, Blanche Ring, William Gaxton, Mary Foy, and Josephine Dunn (as a "society bather"). Note that this is a typical W.C. Fields movie in that the plot is very loose and much of the movie consists of Fields performing his trademark gags. As usual in Fields' movies, he has a young female who he has a good relationship with, and in this case it is the young lady who works in his drugstore. But what is wonderful is that young lady is played by Louise Brooks, who would go on to great cult stardom, in some ways rivaling that of Fields himself! However, much of Brooks' scenes concern her and her boyfriend in the movie, played by William Gaxton, and she has almost no scenes with W.C. Fields, and she is not pictured on the posters or the title card. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1926 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a window card (26 years ago), a much lesser condition lobby card (which didn't show Fields or Brooks), and a different lobby card (which DID show Brooks) from this movie until we received this great title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. There was paper loss in the left of the bottom border that affected the "COUNTRY OF ORIGIN U.S.A.", and someone glued a piece of another card to that area and recreated the missing letters (see our images). There are three pieces of paper tape on the back of the top border and three pieces of paper tape on the back of the bottom border, but they were not put there for a restoration purpose. There were three numbers written in pencil in the top right blank area, and someone partially erased them, but they are still noticeable. There is a small stain in the top right corner that touches the top edge of the Paramount logo, and a smaller stain in the blank white background below the "W" at top left. There are a few pinholes and faint smudges around the edges. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of this very rare card. Learn More about condition grades
