Note that this movie was very loosely based on the series of killings by the serial killer dubbed "The Boston Strangler", which began in 1962. The major studios at that time did not feel it was appropriate to make a movie about such a distasteful subject, but by 1968, when the studio system had begun to break down, a major movie was made based on it, called "The Boston Strangler", starring Tony Curtis (who had an uncredited role in this movie). Finally, note that the serial killer in this movie was called "Jason", and we would have to think it is no coincidence that the killer in "Friday the 13th" had the same name! Important Added Info: Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1966, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
