eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8g0773 ROSE-MARIE 7 LCs 1928 young and sexy Joan Crawford, James Murray, lost film, ultra rare! Date Sold 4/15/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 7 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Rose-Marie, the 1928 Lucien Hubbard silent Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie romantic love triangle melodrama ("Based on the famous stage production."; about a beautiful girl at a Canadian trading post, who loves an outlaw wanted for murder, and there is a Canadian Mountie after the outlaw who loves her too!) starring Joan Crawford (in the title role as Rose-Marie), James Murray, House Peters, Creighton Hale, and Lou Costello (in a bit part). Note that filming on this movie started in 1926 with a different director and with Renee Adoree as the star, but the movie was abandoned. In 1928, MGM dusted off the old footage and completed it with Joan Crawford in the starring role. Of course, this movie is overshadowed by the classic 1936 sound version starring Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy! Also, this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we auctioned this very set 5 years ago and the buyer only wanted one scene card from the set, and he has now re-consigned the other 7 cards, which we are offering here. As noted above, this is a "lost" film, but the movie paper from it is almost as completely lost! The only movie paper of any kind that we have auctioned for this film was the set mentioned above (and it sold for $322 in 2016)! Condition: fair. The cards have MAJOR condition issues. They were likely found under a floor or behind a wall, because all have darkening, staining, and many pinholes and dot stains scattered throughout. Several have tears and paper loss around the edges (two of the cards are clearly in "poor" condition). Obviously, one would prefer to find them in better condition, but given their rarity, it might be a long wait before even one more card surfaces. Of course, the cards can be restored, but bear the much lesser condition of the cards and the cost of restoration in mind before bidding on them. Learn More about condition grades
