An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Climax, the 1944 George Waggner Universal kidnapping suspense thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Suspense!"; "Adapted by Curt Siodmak from the play by Edward Locke"; basically an unauthorized remake of The Phantom of the Opera, which Universal had made the year before with Susanna Foster, who stars in this movie, where Karloff is a demented doctor who, years ago, killed his fiancee rather than have her become an opera star, and now he becomes obsessed with another beautiful young opera singer, and he wants to stop her from singing by any means, and of course, her young lover is trying to save her from the mad doctor!) starring Susanna Foster ("Sensation of 'Phantom of the Opera!"), Turhan Bey ("Romantic Hit of 'Dragon Seed'!"), Boris Karloff ("Great star of 'Arsenic and Old Lace'!"), Gale Sondergaard, June Vincent, Thomas Gomez, George Dolenz, Jane Farrar, Ludwig Stossel, and Scotty Beckett. Note that this movie was a remake of Universal's movie of the same name made in 1930, starring Jean Hersholt and Kathryn Crawford.
