An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 20" x 28" [51 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Fire Away!, the 1944 U.S. World War II (WWII) War Bonds poster ("Buy Extra Bonds") encouraging people to contribute to the 5th War Loan, and featuring Georges Schreiber art of a soldier shining a spotlight from atop a submarine. The poster also has written at upper left "In Memory U.S.S. Dorado" which was a U.S. submarine that was tragically lost on its maiden voyage, possibly due to friendly fire (either from a patrol plane or a sea mine). Artist: Georges Schreiber Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that we were just consigned a wonderful collection of 59 war posters, most from World War II (which we are auctioning in 59 separate auctions)! Included in this collection are some posters we have never auctioned before, and some we have only auctioned once or twice before (sometimes only many years ago). This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain some or all of these historic posters, many of which have great images!). Condition: very good. The poster has minor fold and border wear with some fine surface paper loss across the center horizontal fold. There is approximately 3/4" of clean vertical separation under the center crossfold.
