An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/4" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Fast and Loose, the 1930 Fred C. Newmeyer New York City family relationship romantic comedy (based on the play by David Gray & Avery Hopwood; about a rich family on Long Island in New York City who has a rebellious son and daughter; the son takes up with a chorus girl, and the daughter takes up with the chauffeur, both scandalizing their parents) starring Frank Morgan, Carole Lombard, Miriam Hopkins, Henry Wadsworth, and Charles Starrett. Note that this movie was based on a play that had been previously turned into a movie in 1925, called "The Best People", starring Warner Baxter and Esther Ralston, and the theme of the movie made a lot of sense during the Roaring Twenties. But for this 1930 remake, after the start of the Depression, Paramount wanted to change the feeling of the movie somewhat, and they hired a very young Preston Sturges, who was just starting out in the film business, to write new dialog for this new version, and he livened up the movie considerably (and helped his career as well!). Miriam Hopkins made her film debut here, at the age of 28, and since she had had Broadway experience, she was given a leading role, and she did quite well, and it quickly led to starring roles. Carole Lombard had been in movies for five years, but without much success, but it was in this movie that she really got noticed (and where she added the "e" to "Carol" for the first time, but we imagine that was a coincidence). The poster had two evenly spaced vertical folds and two evenly spaced horizontal folds, with some creases, small tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on both folds. It had a 3" tear in the right of the bottom border and tape on the back of parts of the right of the top border, where there were small tears. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone mounted the poster onto a thin linen with no excess, and no restoration was performed. The poster could absolutely be displayed as it is, or it would be relatively easy for any talented restorer to remove it from the thin linen and re-back it. Learn More about condition grades
