Auction History Result 1m0423 LOT OF 40 TRADE AT HOME MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS 1943 save time, tires, gas AND money! Date Sold 1/23/2022 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 40 miscellaneous items from Trade At Home, the 1943 supermarket promotion that predated 2020 America by nearly 80 years! It was started during World War II, when gas and tires were rationed, and people were only taking essential trips. So some brilliant guy or gal came up with this "trade at home" scheme, where you could "save time, tires, gas, and money"! What they did was had signs posted all over their store and then you would take home their order form, and then you would mail it to them and they would deliver your groceries and drugstore items. Included in this bulk lot are dozens of 13x19 posters for various items they were selling (with amazing 1943 prices and a "buy war bonds and stamps" message at the bottom) and also included are stiff cardboards and also a kit of numbers that could be cut out, no doubt so you could "adjust" the prices on any item where you had to raise the price due to scarcity! We have pictured all the items, and we have never before auctioned even one of these. We wish we had more of these, but these were found in an estate, and there are no more from that source! Measurements: from 3" x 6" to 13" x 19"Condition: fine. All the items are in excellent unused condition, but they are definitely original to 1943!
