eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6f001 SUPERMAN & THE MOLE MEN 1sh '51 George Reeves in his 1st full-length feature adventure! Date Sold 11/15/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Superman and the Mole Men (released in England as "Superman and the Strange People"), the 1951 Lee Sholem comic book superhero science fiction (sci-fi) subterranean aliens fantasy thriller ("The All-Time Ace of Action!"; "...in his First Full-Length Feature Adventure!") starring George Reeves (in the title role as Superman/Clark Kent), Phyllis Coates (as Lois Lane), Jeff Corey, Walter Reed, J. Farrell MacDonald, and Stanley Andrews. Note that this movie was released theatrically. After it proved very successful, George Reeves was hired for the "The Adventures of Superman" TV series along with Phyllis Coates (who left the series after the 1st season and was replaced with Noel Neill, who portrayed Lois in the first 2 Superman serials). Also, this movie was shown as a special two-part episode of the TV show! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has an "R" beside the NSS number stamped on the back (it reads "R51/674 while the NSS number in the right of the bottom edge reads "51/674"). We believe that this simply means that this is either a poster containing a small revision or possibly the stamp on the back is just a mistake but in either case, we believe the poster is NOT a re-release! Condition: good. There is some light water staining and rippling across the bottom 2" of the poster and there are some small stains in the upper left edge. There are several tack holes scattered throughout the poster and there are some 1 1/2" and smaller tears around the edges from rough removal that have been repaired with clear tape from the back. There is an area of scuffing and creasing in the "M" in "MOLE" at lower center right of the bottom crossfold. There is some separation and tattering at the crossfolds and along the left of the top horizontal fold (some repaired with clear tape from the back). Fortunately, the poster's defects are the kind that can surely be repaired (or completely removed) during the linenbacking process and the poster will display great (although I can imagine many collectors would be quite happy with this cool poster as is)!
