An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Roy Rogers (born Leonard Slye, often referred to as the "King of the Cowboys") is considered one of the all-time top singing cowboy western actors (he started in movies in the 1930s and worked in film until the 1950s, often with The Sons of the Pioneers, and comedy sidekicks including Gabby Hayes and Andy Devine; in 1951, he transitioned to television and had a very successful TV show for six seasons) and was nearly always accompanied by his equally famous horse, Trigger. He had many female co-stars until he starred with Dale Evans, and they married, and remained married for over 50 years! He passed away in 1998 at the age of 86. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Roy Rogers (he wrote "To Verna 'Aw shucks you're cute"). We wonder if Dale had reason to be jealous of Verna! Also note that this still measures 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm]. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic!
