An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Fair Pretender, the 1918 Charles Miller silent romantic mistaken identity stage play comedy farce (about a man who writes a play that says that anyone would be accepted in high society if they look the part; a secretary tries to prove that theory by attending a fancy party, and she meets the playwright, and all kinds of complications ensue, including a German spy at the party, but she ends up starring in the play) starring Madge Kennedy ("- and her smile - and her eyes"), Tom Moore, Robert Walker, Paul Doucet, and Wilmer Walter. Note that the Robert Walker credited above was NOT the Robert Walker who starred in the 1940s and 1950s, but a different Robert Walker who started making movies in 1913, and he appeared in an amazing 255 movies through 1953, a 40 year span, but most of those were westerns, and a lot of them were very minor roles, often uncredited. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that cinema pioneer Samuel Goldwyn (one of the founders of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) conducted an interesting experiment with lobby cards in late 1918, 1919, and part of 1920. He had all of the 1919 lobby cards from Goldwyn movies made in a special way. The title card was like a normal title card, but all of the seven scene cards did not have the title of the movie printed anywhere on them! Obviously, theater owners hated the experiment, because it meant they could not tell which movie the scene cards were from unless they had specifically seen the movie. Similarly, lobby card collectors have the same problem, and we have sold many "unknown" 1919 Goldwyn lobby cards over the years! Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good to fine. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
