Richard Jones & Harry Sweet silent newlywed marriage infidelity slapstick horror comedy short ("Phillie Mignon was a cook straight from the tenderloin."; produced by Mack Sennett; a wild story about a couple who fire their unworthy maid but the new maid flirts with the husband so the jealous wife decides to flirt with a male friend who recently arrived to the house; a lightning storm begins and ghostly tall men with beards begin to haunt the couple, and one of them tells the husband that the friend is going to steal his wife so he knocks the man out only to discover the bearded men are actually bounty hunters seeking out the man who is wanted, and they were aided by the new maid who is actually a detective!) starring Harry Langdon, Louise Carver, Alice Day, Frank J. Coleman, and Madeline Hurlock NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Pathe for use by theaters showing their 1920s Mack Sennett movies. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank area at bottom right. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they were sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Most collectors consider them more valuable with a printed snipe attached, or with an overprinted snipe area (this poster was overprinted with the title "The First 100 Years"). Note that, because this is a "stock" poster that was used for all Mack Sennett shorts, the image is NOT of any particular Sennett comedy star, but instead is a great stone litho image of a bunch of sexy girls wearing what were then incredibly skimpy costumes! Condition: good to very good. The poster has some spotty slight discoloration on portions of some folds (see our image). There is tiny paper loss at the bottom crossfold and there is some writing on back at center that very slightly bleeds through to the front. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and after a simple linenbacking the poster will look great! Learn More about condition grades
