An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

Dr. Gillespie's Criminal Case, the 1943 Willis Goldbeck medical doctor hospital crime mystery thriller ("The thrilling secret of a soldier's sweetheart!"; "Dr. Gillespie kidnapped in jail break!") starring Lionel Barrymore, Van Johnson (who took over from Lew Ayres as Dr. Gillespie's new protege "Dr. Randall Adams"), Donna Reed (22 years old, and third billed, in one of her first major roles!), Keye Luke , John Craven, Nat Pendleton, Alma Kruger, William Lundigan, and Margret O'Brien (playing a minor role in her second feature film, perhaps it was made prior to the release of "Journey for Margaret", where she had a starring role). Note that the Dr. Kildare movies were made between 1938 and 1947, but Lew Ayres left the series in 1942. Six more films were made WITHOUT Dr. Kildare, but WITH Dr. Gillespie (played as always by Lionel Barrymore), who became top billed in those six movies, and of course, they could not be official "Dr. Kildare movies", because the lead character was no longer at the hospital.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that the appeal of this series was clearly drastically winding down by the time of the release of this movie, for the poster designer did not even picture either Lionel Barrymore or Van Johnson on the one-sheet poster, choosing instead to picture sexy Donna Reed embraced by unbilled soldier Michael Duane!

Condition: fair to good. There is marker writing on the back of the poster that slightly bleeds through to the front at center. There are several brown tape repairs on the back of the poster.
