An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Love Cult, the 1966 Barry Mahon sexploitation movie ("Was she a priestess in The Love Cult or a depraved sinner in a sex cult?"; "Here's a major motion picture that tells the inside story of phony religious groups that used sex for membership... and the Devil for a preacher!") starring Rita Bennett, Lucky Kargo, Sharon Kent, Vincent Van Lynn, and Uta Erickson. Note that director Barry Mahon had a fascinating life that could fill several movies! He was an American pilot for England in World War II and he was shot down and put in a POW camp, and he escaped and was the basis for the Steve McQueen character in the movie "The Great Escape" (Mahon also loved motorcycles). He became Errol Flynn's pilot and later Errol Flynn's manager. He then made many sexploitation "nudie cuties" movies in the 1950s and 1960s, but at the end of his career, he made a drastic shift, and made several children's movies (perhaps he found religion?). We have never auctioned a one-sheet or any other poster for this movie in all our years of auctioning! Note that in recent months we auctioned a collection of sexploitation one-sheets that included many rare titles from a single collector, and last month we auctioned the last of that collection. NOW, we have been consigned a different collection which includes even more very rarely seen titles! In this set of auctions we auctioned the first group of one-sheet from this new collection, and there are 132 different ones(all are in separate auctions), and they include a number of posters that we have only auctioned once or twice before. There are also a number with great images or taglines. This is an excellent opportunity to add one or more of these rare one-sheets to your collection, and, like the previous collection we auctioned, this consignor also only had one of each title, so on the rare ones, it may be quite some time before we offer the same title again! Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time resulting in a light vertical foldline at left and right. It has creases scattered in various areas (especially around the edges) and some smudges in the lower half. There is tiny paper loss in the bottom left lower horizontal fold.
