A picture... unforgettable in its greatness!"; "Sensational in it's dramatic impact!"; "From a Story by Rowland Brown") starring James Cagney (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Rocky Sullivan), Pat O'Brien (as Father Jerry Connolly), The Dead End Kids (Leo Gorcey [as Bim], Billy Halop [as Soapy], Huntz Hall [as Crab], Bobby Jordan, Gabriel Dell, Bernard Punsly), Humphrey Bogart (as James Frazier), Ann Sheridan (as Laury Ferguson), George Bancroft, and Frankie Burke (as the young Rocky; he was an unknown 17 year-old newsboy when he was discovered to play the young James Cagney, because he had an uncanny resemblance to young James Cagney!) We have put a scan of the negative that shows the "positive image" (in addition to a scan of the negative image). REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU RECEIVE WILL BE A PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE, NOT A POSITIVE IMAGE LIKE YOU ARE SEEING. However, we will provide the winning bidder of this auction that positive image scan that is both high quality and not watermarked (on request to the winning bidder, and only the winning bidder). We scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is. What are camera original negatives? These often (but not always) have retouching on the emulsion side, and negative numbers written in India ink on the front. Depending on the studio some 8x10 negatives may be trimmed or have numbers or information embedded into the sides of the negative. Obviously, camera original negatives are far more rare (and far more desirable) than studio-issued ones, but both are very high quality. Condition: fair. This negative has a very strong "vinegar" odor. It has signs of "vinegar syndrome" and should be stored properly to slow this progression. Please bear this significant defect in mind before bidding on this. Of course, once one scans this transparency, this is no longer an issue as far as making making high quality prints from it, but it is important to bear this in mind BEFORE bidding. In addition, this has India ink numbering at the bottom, and retouching on the back that was done by the photographer. This has some dust, light scratches and other minor flaws that could easily be cleaned before printing or retouched after scanning. Learn More about condition grades
