Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Polish Movie Poster (measures approximately 26 1/2" x 38") (Learn More) Uomini e lupi (released in the U.S. as "Men and Wolves"), the 1956 Giuseppe De Santis & Leopoldo Savona Italian/French romantic hunting melodrama ("In a thrilling drama of primitive passions..."; about an Italian man who is called a coward when he fails to kill a wolf that has killed some of the men of his town; the widow of a man who was killed helps him to track down the wolf and regain his dignity) starring Silvana Mangano, Yves Montand, Pedro Armendariz, Irene Cefaro, and Giulio Cali. Note that this is a critically acclaimed movie which featured strong performances by actors who went on to illustrious careers, but the movie seems to be somewhat forgotten today! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: R. Cieslewicz Important Added Info: This Polish poster measures approximately 26 1/2" x 38" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster was folded twice horizontally and once vertically and there was minor wear along the foldlines. There were tiny tears in the borders and faint smudges in the white background areas.
