An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Country Doctor, the 1936 Henry King family melodrama ("The world's 'Front Page Sweethearts' in a story as great as its cast!"; "Photographed under the technical supervision of Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe") starring The Dionne Quintuplets (Yvonne, Cecile, Marie, Annette, and Emelie), Jean Hersholt (as Dr. John Luke), June Lang, Dorothy Peterson, Michael Whalen, and Jane Darwell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had tape on the back of the top horizontal foldline. When it was removed, there were creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss and a large area of paper loss at the right end of the top foldline extending into the blue background area. There were creases, tears, and extra folds along the other foldlines and small paper loss at the crossfolds. The borders had creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but there is a fair amount of paint restoration in the blue background areas along the foldlines (but it is truly not very noticeable at all from any distance away).
