An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Ten Cents a Dance, the 1931 Lionel Barrymore New York City romantic love triangle gambling melodrama ("She was a dance hall hostess - but the band never played 'Home Sweet Home' for her!"; "'Come on Big Boy Ten Cents A Dance'"; about the prettiest taxi dancer at a dance hall in Manhattan, and a wealthy man comes to dance with her, but she marries a gambler, and when he loses money she borrows it from the rich man, and eventually, her no-good husband embezzles money from the rich man directly and loses it gambling, and she goes to the rich man and he gives her even more money, and she finally wakes up and leaves her husband, but she returns to the dance hall, but finally at the end, the rich man shows up at the dance hall and shows her tickets for an ocean cruise) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Ricardo Cortez, Monroe Owsley, Sally Blane, Blanche Frederici, and David Newell. Note that famous actor Lionel Barrymore directed six movies between 1913 and 1917, but then solely acted until 1929, when he directed another nine movies between then and 1931. This movie was the last where he was billed as the director!

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a cloth banner (which sold for $1,127, and that was 11 years ago), three lobby cards (one 22 years ago and one 13 years ago), a herald (17 years ago), two glass slides, and two stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this fourth lobby card, which has a different scene than the previous three, and, of course, it has a wonderful image of the "10 cents a dance girls" at work! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. There are pinholes, smudges, and stains around the edges, with a few within the images of the girls, but not Barbara Stanwyck. The card can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, restoration can be performed. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
