An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 11 1/2" x 21" [29 x 53 cm]) (Learn More) The Black Shield of Falworth, the 1954 Rudolph Mate Universal medieval adventure thriller ("All the vast pageantry and towering excitement the thundering thrills of knighthood's epic age!"; "The epic story of Myles Falworth... who pledged his life to save a throne... and his love to win a fabulous beauty!"; "All the pageantry and excitement of Knighthood's epic age!"; based on the book 'Men of Iron' by Howard Pyle) starring Tony Curtis (as a knight with a Brooklyn accent!), Janet Leigh, David Farrar, Barbara Rush, Herbert Marshall, Torin Thatcher, Daniel O'Herlihy, and Rhys Williams. Note that there is a long-standing rumor that Curtis badly mangles the line "Yonder lies the castle of my father" as "Yonda lies the castle of my faddah." However, a collector tells us that line is not even in the film, but there is a similar line in Son of Ali Baba which was pronounced correctly. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster also had creases and small tears down the center, with a horizontal title between the two words of the title. It had some small tears and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
