An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 3.25" x 7"; 4 pages) (Learn More)

A Successful Calamity, the 1932 John G. Adolfi high-society family relationship comedy ("George Arliss in a picture you'll enjoy even more than 'The Millionaire'"; based on a play by Claire Kummer; about a rich old millionaire, who has a beautiful young selfish second wife, played by Mary Astor, and grown children the same age as his wife, and he decides to pretend to be broke to see how they will react, and they all turn out to be great about it, with formerly selfish Astor selling her jewelry to get him money!) starring George Arliss, Mary Astor, Evalyn Knapp, Hardie Albright, Grant Mitchell, Randolph Scott (in his fourth credited movie role!), and William Janney. Note that Mary Astor had been in movies for 11 years by the time this was made, but she was still only 26, and she played the wife of 64 year-old George Arliss, which surely took all of her acting ability!
