An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Picnic, the 1956 Joshua Logan (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic melodrama ("From the moment he hit town... She knew it was just a matter of time!"; "The famed Pulitzer Prize Play.... On the screen at last!"; "The Pulitzer Prize Play... Now On The Screen!"; "Based on the play 'Picnic' by William Inge", "Screen play by Daniel Taradash, prize winning screen writer of 'From Here to Eternity'"; "The Pulitzer Prize Play is now a prize picture in CinemaScope and in color by Technicolor"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a drifter coming into a small town to meet with an old frat buddy who also happens to be the son of the richest man in town) starring William Holden, Kim Novak (in her fifth credited movie role!), Betty Field, Susan Strasberg, Cliff Robertson, Rosalind Russell (billed as "co-starring Rosalind Russell as Rosemary"), and Arthur O'Connell (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this half-sheet has an image of Kim Novak as she appeared in this movie. In 1961, she had shortened her hair to a completely different style, and when this movie was re-released that year, the half-sheet had a very similar image to that of this original half-sheet. But bizarrely, they changed her hairdo on the re-release poster that new shorter hairstyle, even though she did not wear it in the actual movie! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster is almost completely separated along the foldlines and there are tape stains and tape repairs on the back along the foldlines that bleed through to the front. There is a piece of brown tape on the back of the poster at upper left and right but it does not appear to have any effect on the front. The poster is otherwise in generally nice condition and it seems likely that the tape stains could easily be removed during the restoration process and after the poster is backed it will display quite nicely.
