An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #1 (The Master Spy) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 39 1/2" [69 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Dick Tracy's G-Men, the 1939 John English & William Witney detective action mystery crime serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters"; "All New Action - All New Thrills!"; "Based on the famous cartoon strip by Chester Gould") starring Ralph Byrd (in the title role as Dick Tracy), Irving Pichel, Ted Pearson, Jennifer Jones (later a world famous actress, but here billed under her given name of "Phylis Isley"; in her second movie!), Walter Miller, and Edmund Cobb. Note that this was the third Dick Tracy movie! It is surprising that it took six years for it to reach the screen in 1937's "Dick Tracy", but once it did, it proved very popular and was followed by three more serials over the next four years, and then after a four year break, the first Dick Tracy feature film was released, which again proved extremely popular, and there were three sequels to that. There were animated cartoons on TV in the 1950s and in 1990, Warren Beatty made a live action movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 27" x 39 1/2" [69 x 100 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had most of the top and bottom blank borders trimmed off, but only blank white paper was affected. It had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases and tiny paper loss on parts of the folds. It had paper loss in the bottom right corner that slightly affected the "ERS" of "CHAPTERS". It had writing on the back of the center of the image that slightly bled through to the front. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, and the restorer did not replace the missing parts of the top and bottom blank borders.
