An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 14" x 21" [36 x 53 cm]; 36 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 12 pages (Learn More) Carnegie Hall, the 1947 Edgar G. Ulmer New York City concert musical ("Never before... Never again... So magnificent array of artists on one screen!"; "The Mightiest music event the screen has ever known!"; "The Top Names of All in Carnegie Hall"; "With the greatest array of world famous artists!"; "Original Story by Seena Owen") starring Marsha Hunt, William Prince, Frank McHugh, Martha O'Driscoll, Hans Yaray, Olin Downes, Joseph Buloff, and the following classic musical performers ("in order of their appearance") Walter Damrosch, Bruno Walter, The New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Lily Pons, Gregoire Piatigorsky, Rise Stevens (who made a notable appearance in "Going My Way"), Artur Rodzinski, Artur Rubinstein, Jan Peerce, Ezio Pinza, Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Reiner, Leopold Stokowski, Harry James, Frank McHugh, Martha O'Driscoll, Hans Yaray, Olin Downes, and Joseph Buloff. Note that Lily Pons was a real life opera star who was drafted into movies after the great success of Jeanette MacDonald, and for her first one, she was given "I Dream Too Much" in 1935, with music by Jerome Kern, who had composed the music for the hit movie "Roberta" the year before. But she only appeared in three more movies between 1935 and 1937, and then returned to opera singing. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
