An Original 1974 Vintage Linenbacked Special Book Poster (1sh; measures 29" x 36") (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: John Melo Important Added Info: Note that this was a special poster printed in 1974 to promote the release of a 256 page book that contained 1,000 framed blow-ups and ALL the dialogue from this classic movie. Interestingly, the image on the poster (which is great artwork by Melo) does NOT appear on the book itself, which had a headshot photo of Karloff in make-up as the monster! Condition: very good. The poster had very minor fold wear. There was an area of paper loss in the left of the top border and in the right of the top border, but both were only blank white paper. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and the missing paper in the top blank border was replaced, and the poster displays well!
