A Vintage Hardcover Book with Autographed Bookplate (measures 5 3/4" x 8 1/2" [15 x 22 cm]; 169 pages) (Learn More) Nelson A. Rockefeller (one of the sons of John Rockefeller, the famous oil man and founder of Standard Oil) was a businessman and politician from the 1930s to 1979. He served as the Governor of New York from 1959 to 1973. Rockefeller could well have been one of the United States Presidents! What do we mean? In 1968, Robert Kennedy was almost a certainty to become the Democratic presidential candidate, and the Republican party did not want a repeat of the 1960 election, with another "Kennedy/Nixon" election, fearing that Nixon would surely lose to the charismatic Bobby Kennedy, and so many within the Republican party were strongly advocating Nelson Rockefeller as the Republican candidate, but then Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, and it then became far more reasonable for Nixon to be nominated, and he was, and he became President, and Rockefeller never got to run as the Republican candidate. However, in 1974, he served as Vice President of the United States under President Gerald Ford. Rockefeller passed away in 1979 at the age of 70. Important Added Info: Note that this there is a bookplate glued to the interior title page that has been personally autographed (signed) by Nelson A. Rockefeller! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Note that our consignor has been a memorabilia dealer for the past 30 years, and he tells us that he is certain this autograph is authentic. In some cases he obtained the autographs in person, and in other cases (like with contracts and agreements), it is obvious the signatures are authentic, but he vouches for the authenticity of every item that he has consigned to us, and we also feel certain that the autographs are authentic. Condition: good to very good. There is light water staining scattered down the left edge of the cover of the jacket, and more noticeable water staining at the top of the spine of the jacket, extending to the front cover (see our image). Otherwise, the book is in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
