eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result d101 DIAL M FOR MURDER linen Belgian movie poster R60s Hitchcock, Kelly Date Sold 4/15/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 12" x 18") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M For Murder, the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) romantic love triangle crime murder mystery detective suspense thriller ("...is that you, darling?"; "Written by Frederick Knott who wrote the International Stage Success"; "If a woman answers... hang on for dear life!"; "Is this the man she was waiting for... or the man who was waiting for her?"; "Perfect 3 Dimension in the Hitchcock manner!") starring Ray Milland, Grace Kelly, Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings), John Williams, and Anthony Dawson. Note that, although this movie was filmed in 3-D, none of the original posters mention it at all (there is an explanation in the pressbook that because they know many theaters will not show it in 3-D, "the ads have been designed so that the 3D copy may be eliminated" [and obviously, this is why they did not put 3-D on the posters]). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster originally had a blank top that was trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The trimming slightly extended into the black background, but it does not affect the images or the writing. There is a thin vertical strip of surface paper loss to the right of Hitchcock's eye. There is a diagonal crease in the background to the left of Kelly's hair. The poster was folded once in each direction and there were creases and scuffs along both folds and pinholes in the corners (the removal of the pins in the right corners caused tiny paper loss). Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not touch up the surface paper loss by Hitchcock's eye, the crease by Kelly's hair, and did not touch up the missing top area.
