An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) John Carpenter's The Thing, the 1982 John Carpenter horror science fiction (sci-fi) thriller ("The Ultimate in Alien Terror."; "Man is the warmest place to hide."; set in Antarctica; "Based on the story 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell Jr."; it is a re-make of the 1951 movie, "The Thing from Another World", based on the same story, and with James Arness as "The Thing") starring Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, T.K. Carter, David Clennon, Keith David, Richard Dysart, Charles Hallahan, Peter Maloney, Richard Masur, Donald Moffat, Joel Polis, and Thomas G. Waites. This is one of Carpenter's best movies, and in many ways it is more enjoyable and superior to the original version! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Drew Struzan Important Added Info: Note that we have noticed that there appear to be three different versions of this poster, the only difference being the placement of Kurt Russell's credit and the bottom white border. On this poster, he is listed separately on his own line and on the other posters he is listed at lower left in a not very prominent position. Perhaps he was not happy with his billing on the other poster and new posters were printed with the different credits arrangement. Some of the posters with the new credit placement were printed by the National Screen Service (and have the film title in the bottom border) and some were printed by Universal Studios (and lack the film title in the bottom border). All three styles are original first release posters. Condition: good to very good. The poster likely touched a wet object when folded and that has left behind 1-2" of light rippling and slight discoloration in patches to the right and left of the top and bottom edges and center horizontal fold. Otherwise it is in pretty nice condition. It could be displayed as is as the defects are but it is not very noticeable or distracting when the poster is displayed at a reasonable viewing distance, or after linenbacking it would look great!
