Date Sold 5/3/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1938 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Skids and Scalawags, the 1918 Larry Semon silent romantic comedy short starring Larry Semon, Madge Kirby, Pietro Aramondo, Owen Evans, and Frank Alexander. Note that star Larry Semon (who also directed) was a top silent star in comedy shorts in the late 1910s and early 1920s (often playing a "loser" who managed to "win" somehow!). Sadly, he passed away in 1928 at the age of 39 from tuberculosis after a nervous breakdown. He had already lost his fortune because of a lavish lifestyle. So he never got a chance to transition to sound comedy. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II Italian poster! Virtually no Italian posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in Italy during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Note also that this Italian one-sheet measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges and there is some slight discoloration in portions of the right edge and on back. There are some tax stamps at right and there is some separation and paper loss in the man's face at upper center. There are some tack holes around the edges. Some of the defects in the borders are backed by tape. The poster has some clear defects, but it is mostly "all there" and after restoration it would display well, but bear in mind its condition and cost of restoration before placing a bid.
