Zanuck's Hollywood Cavalcade, the 1939 Irving Cummings & Malcolm St. Clair Los Angeles California movie acting romantic melodrama ("The romance of Hollywood from bathing beauties to world premieres!"; "Story by Hilary Lynn and Brown Holmes"; "Based upon an original idea by Lou Breslow"; "Screen Play by Ernest Pascal"; "Photographed in Technicolor"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; a highly fictionalized history of early Hollywood and silent movies, with Ameche playing a composite of Mack Sennett and D.W. Griffith, with Alice Faye playing a composite of Mabel Normand and Gloria Swanson, and the movie culminates with the first talking pictures, and it basically bears no real relationship to what actually occurred, but it is highly entertaining, and has great cameos from many of the best silent stars, including the billed ones, and also Al Jolson, Mack Sennett, and Rin Tin Tin Jr.!) starring Alice Faye, Don Ameche, J. Edward Bromberg, Alan Curtis, Stuart Erwin, Buster Keaton, Donald Meek, Jed Prouty, George Givot, Eddie Collins, and Ben Turpin NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that on this movie, 20th Century Fox solely issued a "photolobby" set with glossier color scenes from the movie (there were NO "regular" lobby cards made). We have no idea why 20th Century-Fox did this, but it seems to be something they experimented with in 1939 on certain movies. This is not to be confused with the "color-glos" color photolobbies they issued around this time (on those titles, there was both a color-glos set AND a "regular" set). Condition: fair. The photolobby was folded down the middle and there was surface paper loss down that crease, and someone painted over it to match. There is tape on the back of the fold and paper tape remnants on the back of the top and bottom borders. Learn More about condition grades
