An Original Undated (probably early 1940s; from the first release of this movie in England) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English Double Crown Movie Poster (DC; measures 20" x 30") (Learn More) Hotel du Nord (literally translates to "North Hotel"), the classic 1938 Marcel Carne French romantic love triangle attempted suicide melodrama (about a young couple who check into a hotel intending to commit a murder/suicide, but after the man shoots his girlfriend, he loses his nerve and leaves, and a pimp in the room next door finds the shot girl and saves her, and the boyfriend goes to prison, and the pimp wants to start life over with the girl, but she still thinks about her boyfriend in prison) starring Annabella (as one of the pimp's prostitutes, in a memorable role), Jean-Pierre Aumont, Louis Jouvet, Paulette Dubost, Andrex, Andre Brunot, Henry Bosc, Marcel Andre, Bernard Blier, Jacques Louvigny (billed as "Louvigny"), Armand Lurville (billed as "Lurville"), Jane Marken (billed as "Jeanne Marken"), Genia Vaury, Francois Perier, Rene Bergeron (billed as "Bergeron"), and Arletty NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. This was a major English cinema that would have its own posters created and printed for movies they were showing (these were made during the first English showing of those movies). Note that this particular poster says "The Academy Cinema Club", and "Members Only", which must be something they tried out for a while. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded, but the bottom 1" was folded back at one time. It had a few minor scuffs scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
