An Original Vintage Theatrical Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still #5 (Learn More) The Subterraneans, the 1960 Ranald MacDougall teen beatnik counter-culture romantic melodrama ("Love among the new Bohemians!"; "Based on the novel by Jack Kerouac") starring Leslie Caron (as Mardou Fox), George Peppard (as Leo Percepied), Janice Rule, Roddy McDowall, Gerry Mulligan (best jazz saxophone player of his era who appeared in four movies, playing a saxophone!), Carmen McRae, and Andre Previn. Note that in the novel, Mardou was black, however for the movie version she was made French! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that although this still was "printed in Great Britain", it has full NSS information. Perhaps it was intended to be used in both countries (we have heard from collectors who saw these color stills in U.S. theaters at the time the movies were released, but we have not heard from any English collectors as to whether they were used in England at that time).
