The 42nd Annual Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars), the 1970 Jack Haley Jr. & Richard Dunlap awards ceremony hosted by Fred Astaire, which was held on April 7th at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. Note that this was the year Midnight Cowboy won the Oscar for Best Picture and Dustin Hoffman lost the Best Actor Oscar to John Wayne in True Grit!
