An Original 1950 (from the first release of this movie in Argentina) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43" [74 x 109 cm]) (Learn More) Scott of the Antarctic, the 1948 (released in the U.S. in 1949) Charles Frend English explorer action adventure docudrama ("The noblest adventure man ever dared!"; "A truly great motion picture!"; "Never-to-be-forgotten adventure to the edge of the Earth with..."; "The Royal Command Film"; about British explorer Robert Falcon Scott's last expedition to the South Pole) starring John Mills (in the title role as Robert Falcon Scott), Derek Bond, Harold Warrender, James Robertson Justice, Reginald Beckwith, and Diana Churchill NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Osvaldo Venturi Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had stains, tears, and areas of paper loss in the bottom of the poster, affecting the word "TECHNICOLOR" and the director's credit, but otherwise in the bottom blank area. It also had tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss scattered in the vertical foldline, and a lesser amount on the other folds. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone simply backed the poster without performing restoration. A talented restorer could surely complete the restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster) or certainly, some people might be willing to display the poster as it is.
