Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this souvenir program book, and that was 18 years ago, when it sold for $1,550! Not only that, but it is one of a remarkable collection of seven world premiere programs, six of which are from the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theatre, we are currently auctioning in seven separate auctions! All of these are extremely rare, but all seven will have new owners when these auctions end!

Note that this program was printed for the actual premiere of King Kong at the famed Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and was distributed solely for the performance on "Friday Evening, March 24, 1933". The cover has a great embossed image of a row of chains over an angled Empire State Building. "Tipped in" (lightly glued at the top) to the inside front cover is a "Programme" page that lists what was shown that evening giving a scene-by-scene breakdown of the orchestral accompaniment to the movie, as well as credits for a "Chorus of Dusky Maidens", with credit for "Costumes by Western Costume Company", indicating the "Dusky Maidens" apparently performed with the orchestra in costume! The interior 20 pages have lots of great black and white photos from the movie and of the men who created it. Six of the photos are artwork images of the storyboards from the movie, there are pages of pictures of the stars, as well as the men who made the movie, including Max Steiner, Marian C. Cooper, Ernest B. Schoedsack, Willis O'Brien, and many more. The final page has the most classic Kong image of all, the montage of Kong holding Fay Wray, looming hugely over the New York skyline, an image that (to the best of my knowledge) did not appear on any other 1933 advertising, but first appeared after this on a 1938 re-release lobby card. Not only is this a really wonderful book, filled with images likely available nowhere else, but it surely must be rare, given that it was printed for a single night's performance! Also note that we have pictured the front cover and several interior 2-page spreads from this program. You can use these images to determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are some other pages you are not seeing.

Note: We have 12 images of this program book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 12 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 2.

Condition: very good to fine. The book is in really nice condition!
