An Autographed 4 1/2" x 6" [11 x 15 cm] Album Page (Learn More) Linda Darnell was born in Texas in 1923. Hers surely is one of the most amazing and tragic Hollywood stories ever! Most remember her as the exotic beauty of the late 1930s and early 1940s. But few know that she had "matured" super early and that her stage mother mom had her working as an adult model at age 11 (telling people she was 16). Her mom got her a Hollywood screen test at 15, and they wanted to hire her, but told her mom she had to wait until she was 16. The following year, 1939, she had a sexy debut in Hotel For Women (she looked far older with the right make-up), and the same year she had the lead against Tyrone Power Jr. in Day Time Wife (still only 16!), becoming the youngest leading lady ever in Hollywood. She had several major successes over the following years and in 1947, she appeared in Forever Amber, which included a scene of her surviving being trapped by a fire. She had a very sad personal life, married and divorced three times, and an alcoholic through most of her adult life. In 1965 at just 41 years of age, she was staying at her former secretary's house and was watching one of her earliest hits, "Star Dust", and a fire started and she was burned to death, having made 46 movies. Some of her other movies include: My Darling Clementine, The Mark of Zorro, and The Song of Bernadette AND Donald MacBride was an actor from the 1910s to the 1950s. Some of his movies include: The Fettered Woman, Animal Crackers, High Sierra, The Killers, and The Seven Year Itch Important Added Info: This album page has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Linda Darnell AND Donald MacBride (each star signed on a different side of the album page)! It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display, but of course, one would have to choose which side to display! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1970s on. He purchased the signed photos that were in the inventory of a long running Hollywood memorabilia store, and he has consigned a large number of them to us, and we are auctioning them here, including this item. The store would get items signed when celebrities visited them, and they also bought collections of signed items, but of course only when they were convinced that they were genuine! Both we and our consignor feel it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
