An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 97 pages) (Learn More) The Howie Rubin Story, the circa 1970s movie script written by Philip Mishkin & Rob Reiner. This was a screenplay based on the play that Mishkin and Reiner had written in 1970, which won the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award, but the movie adaptation never came about. Also note that the bottom of the title page of the script says "Property of Marshall-Shyer-Fred Roos c/o Paramount Pictures", and we believe that the "Marshall" refers to Penny Marshall, and the "Shyer" refers to Charles Shyer, and Fred Roos was a casting director at Paramount, and we guess that they were all involved in the proposal to have a movie made of the play. Of course, Rob Reiner was in "All in the Family" at this time, and he later became a major director. At this time, he was writing TV scripts with his partner Philip Mishkin. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. In addition, as a member of the screenwriter's branch of the Academy, he was sent many scripts where the producers hoped that their script would be nominated for a Best Screenwriting Academy Award, and many of these have "for your consideration" printed on the cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter! Condition: very good.
