An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Bullitt, the classic 1968 Peter Yates San Francisco California crime car chase action thriller ("The word 'cop' isn't written all over him - something more puzzling is."; "There are bad cops and there are good cops - and then there's Bullitt."; "Bullitt comes to this theatre soon. That ought to shake up the place pretty good. Not many freaky cops like Bullitt around. You look at the Italian shoes and the turtleneck and you have to wonder. You listen to the official beefs about 'personal misconduct,' 'disruptive influence,' you figure he's got to be up for trade. But when some rare Chicago blood starts spilling in San Francisco, they give Bullitt the mop. They weren't exactly doing him a favor. But they've done a great big one for you."; "Detective Lt. Frank Bullitt - some other kind of cop. Pity the guy he works for."; "Based on the novel 'Mute Witness' by Robert L. Pike"; about a detective who drives a 1968 Ford Mustang GT fastback while pursuing professional hitmen who murdered the wrong guy and let's not forget the really cool chase scenes!) starring Steve McQueen (in the title role "as Bullitt"), Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, Robert Duvall, Simon Oakland, and Norman Fell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has text in the top right that indicates it is an advance (it says "Bullitt comes to this theatre soon"). But it seems that most theaters were sent this "advance" poster (and exhibited it) even after the movie was playing, so we are not bothering to label it as an advance (but note that there is a "non-advance" style as well). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had a large rectangular snipe taped over the upper left of the poster and another one taped over the lower left. The one in the upper left went across McQueen's face, and the one in the lower left was solely in the orange area. They were removed at some point, leaving slight staining and tiny bits of surface paper loss, with a couple of slightly larger bits of paper loss in the upper area, and staining around the edges in the lower area. The poster also had fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period), and it had horizontal scratches in the lower right orange area below the word "McQUEEN". Someone simply backed the poster without any restoration. Certainly, any talented restorer could perform restoration either with or without backing it, but bear this in mind before bidding, and look closely at our super-sized image to see exactly how it affects McQueen's face and figure.
