Date Sold 12/19/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1914 (from the first release of this film in Sweden) Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 35" [60 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) Traffic in Souls or While New York Sleeps, the 1913 George Loane Tucker silent New York City Swedish-immigrant-girls-sold-into-prostitution-by-gangster sex crime melodrama ("The Great White Slave Photo Drama"; "Six Reels of Thrilling Realities"; "A Powerful Photo-Drama of Today"; "6 Parts 700 Scenes 600 Players"; loosely based on a report by John D. Rockefeller's Rockefeller Commission and an investigation by New York District Attorney Charles S. Whitman) starring Jane Gail, Ethel Grandin, William H. Turner, Matt Moore, and William Welsh. Note that this is one of the first productions of Universal Studios, and it is interesting to note that one of the greatest of studios started off making an exploitation movie (which made lots of money, and helped Carl Laemmle to expand his studio and become one of the leading Hollywood studios). Also note that, at a cost of $25,000, it was reported to be the most expensive feature film made to that time! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned an example of this poster before or ANY non-U.S. movie paper for this title! Someone hand write "1919" in the bottom border in pencil, but they were guessing in pre-internet days, and actually it was first released in Sweden in 1914, a year after the movie was released in New York. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There are creases along the top and bottom folds with some smudges and scuffs in the solid black areas. There is a large pinhole in the top blank area. After a simple linenbacking, this rare and really cool poster will display well! Learn More about condition grades
