Note that John Kitzmiller was a black African American who served in Italy in World War II, and he decided to stay there after the war, and he appeared in around 50 Italian movies! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this English pressbook, which is a "country of origin" item for this English movie, and that was 11 years ago, when it sold for $410! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Note that for the past 18 months, we have auctioned one of the most extraordinary collections of pressbooks ever assembled! What made it so extraordinary is that it contained lots and lots of extremely rare pressbooks, mostly from the 1930s and 1940s, including many that we had never auctioned before. In our last few regular auctions, we auctioned most of the last of this gigantic collection, and now, in this April Major Auction, we are auctioning the very last of them, and one quick look tells you that "we saved many of the very best for last"! This is your FINAL opportunity to buy from this extraordinary collection! Condition: good, NO CUTS. It has tape down the spine and two punch holes at top and two in the upper spine area, but fortunately, they have only a tiny effect on interior pages or the covers. The pressbook is complete and uncut, but it has an unusual defect. Someone glued two newspaper clippings about the movie in the blank areas between newspaper ads, and one newspaper image glued over one of the newspaper ads (see our image of that two-page spread). Also, the back cover of the pressbook had a newspaper clipping glued over the two double crown images, and someone removed it and caused surface paper loss in one of the double crown images and around the edges of both images (see our image of the back cover). Obviously, one would prefer to find this ultra rare pressbook in better condition, but that might take years to locate. However, please bear the above in mind before bidding on this.
