Wellman Native American Indian cowboy western ("A year in the making! Thousands in the cast!"; "The big MGM pictures! Following 'King Solomon's Mines' and 'Kim' MGM brings you its NEW spectacular drama!"; "Story by Talbot Jennings and Frank Cavett") starring Clark Gable, Ricardo Montalban ("as Ironshirt. Implacable foe of the white man!"), John Hodiak ("as Brecan, Gable's friend and rival!"), James Whitmore ("as Old Bill Morgan... his knife as sharp as his roving eye!"), Adolphe Menjou ("as Pierre... he pays a debt... and saves a life!"), J. Carrol Naish ("as Chief Looking Glass... he trades a bride for a suit of armor!"), Jack Holt ("as Bear Ghost... he paid the price of vengeance!"), Maria Elena Marques (billed as "and introducing as Maria Elena Marques"; "as Kamiah... Fire in her black eyes... Love in her heart for the rugged white trapper!"), and Howard Keel (as the narrator). Note that James Whitmore is listed as "uncredited" on IMDB, and he is missing from most U.S. advertising. Perhaps he was added as a result of his work on films such as Battleground & The Next Voice You Hear, or perhaps most of his scenes were removed from the film, and posters were created which did not credit him. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Sandro Symeoni Important Added Info: Note that this Italian two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca.
