An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 6 3/4" x 10 1/4" [17 x 26 cm]) (Learn More) Adventure Comics, the DC comic book which was published from 1935 to 1983, and revived again from 2009 to 2011. In its first run, there were 503 issues (the first 31 were called "New Comics" and "New Adventure Comics"). In its revival, they started again with #1, but then resumed the old numbers with #516 in 2010, and ending in 2011 on #529. It started as a series of "funny" comics, but in issue #12, a character named "Jor-L" was introduced. He was a detective of the future, and that strip was created by Siegel and Shuster, who would soon create Superman (and they reused the Jor-L character as "Jor-El", Superman's father). In issue #40, The Sandman appeared, and soon the comic became a superhero comic. In issue #103, Superboy, Green Arrow, Johnny Quick, and Aquaman moved from More Fun Comics to Adventure Comics. Superboy became the lead feature in the comic and would appear on every cover for many years! In 1972, the focus of the comic changed, and it was used as a place to try out characters, including Spectre. Artist: Jim Aparo Important Added Info: Contents: Cover art by Jim Aparo.
