An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Six-Sheet (called a 12sh in England) Movie Poster (6sh; measures 79" x 88 3/4" [201 x 225 cm]) (Learn More)

Brennan of the Moor, the 1913 Edward Warren silent masked bandit crime romantic melodrama short ("He stole from the rich to give to the poor"; about a nobleman-turned-bandit who is imprisoned and nearly drowned; he escapes, disguises himself as a lord, and flees with the woman he loves; they heroically evade capture over a deep canyon and their pursuers die in their pursuit!) starring Barney Gilmore (in the title role as Brennan of the Moor), Marian Swayne, and Joseph Levering. Note that this movie borrows heavily from Zorro, who had been created approximately 15 years earlier!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this English poster, which shows a pretty remarkable image of a couple crossing a chasm over a literal human bridge! Not only that, but the only other paper item we have ever auctioned from this movie is a one-sheet that we recently auctioned (in "fair to good" condition) that was discovered at the same time as this six-sheet, and the one-sheet had completely different art!

Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II English poster! Virtually no English posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in England during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Also note that this English six-sheet was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: good to very good. There are some stains and scuffs scattered in the middle right of the poster, with a few in the rest of the poster and some creases and tiny tears around the edges. But otherwise, the poster has survived in pretty remarkable condition, given that it is 111 years old!
