9 Original 1953 Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

The Woman in Question (released in the U.S. in 1953 as "Five Angles on Murder"), the 1950 Anthony Asquith English crime murder mystery melodrama (about a fortune teller who is murdered, and the police find five different suspects, and must determine which one killed her) starring Jean Kent, Dirk Bogarde, John McCallum, Susan Shaw, Hermione Baddeley, and Duncan Macrae. Note that this is a fascinating but sadly forgotten movie, and those few who remember it say it is an excellent movie (one of many director Anthony Asquith did at this time)! It was released just three months after Rashomon, and it employs the exact same plot device, where five people are interviewed about a murder victim, and each paints a very different picture of what she was like, and the viewer must decide which is the reality (if any of them are!). It certainly is possible that this movie was conceived after Rashomon, but if it was, then it was made incredibly fast, so it seems more likely that they had the same idea independently. In addition, the movie was released in England in 1950, and the IMDb says it was released in the U.S. in 1952, and we HAVE seen a still with a 1952 NSS number, but ALL the posters we have seen are from 1953 and are re-titled "Five Angles on Murder", so we wonder if that 1952 release was aborted, or if there was a 1952 release, it might have been extremely limited. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 9 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills.

Condition: good to very good.
