An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) The Night Angel, the 1931 Edmund Goulding crime murder romantic melodrama (a lurid pre-Code movie, set in Germany, where a District Attorney is about to shut down a house of prostitution, but first sends the daughter of the owner to a nurse's home, and later the doorman at the nurse's home, who has fallen in love with the daughter, attacks the D.A., and the D.A. kills him, and the D.A. is tried for murder, but the testimony of the daughter acquits him; apparently, Marlene Dietrich was intended to star in this movie, but ended up not being in it) starring Nancy Carroll, Fredric March, Phoebe Foster, Alison Skipworth, and Alan Hale Sr. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good to very good. The poster had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster and some creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few pinholes scattered throughout the image. There were three nail holes evenly spaced in the left of the image, and three in the right of the image, including one in Carroll's hair. There were tears, creases, and areas of paper loss in the top credits area. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was well backed by a talented restorer, who did not touch up many of the faint smudges and scuffs (and I agree with that decision, because to do so would have required lots of paint, which would have given the poster a "heavily restored" look, and I don't feel the smudges and scuffs are all that distracting, and they help establish that this is a genuine 78 year-old original poster!). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!).
