An Original Vintage Deluxe 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Radio Still (Learn More) Greer Garson was an English actress from the 1930s and 1960s. In the late 1930s, she was appearing on stage in London (her first great success was "Street Scene"), and Louis B. Mayer saw her in "Old Music" in London in 1939, and signed her to star in MGM's Goodbye Mr. Chips, where she was nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award. Some of her movies include: Mrs. Miniver (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role), Julius Caesar, The Valley Of Decision (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mrs. Parkington (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Susie Parkington), Madame Curie (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Marie Curie), Blossoms In The Dust (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Sunrise At Campobello (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and many more! She passed away in 1996 at the age of 91. Important Added Info: Note that this still is from Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy's radio show, and it is from one of the two times she appeared on their show (once was in 1943 and the other was in 1944). This is from the second time, when she was between making Madame Curie and Mrs. Parkington. It is a great candid image of her talking with Charlie, who is sitting on a piano, with Bergen behind him. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. It comes from the estate of Dorothy Credille, who was a Hollywood publicist in the 1930s to the 1950s. During the course of her work, she became personal friends and an acquaintance of all the top Hollywood stars, and she received many autographed 8x10s and 11x14s from them, many personalized to her. This one is not signed, but it is from her estate and is definitely original. Condition: very good. There is a tiny tear in the left of the bottom border that has a small piece of tape on the back. There are three tape stains on the back of the borders, where it was once attached to a mat. Learn More about condition grades
