A 1976 Re-Release (re-titled "Poor White Trash Part II" for this re-release) Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) Scum of the Earth, the 1974 S.F. Brownrigg down-south horror sexploitation movie ("She found out how they live below Tobacco Road!"; "See the real poor white trash!") starring Norma Moore, Gene Ross, Ann Stafford, Charlie Dell, Camilla Carr, and Joel Colodner. Note that the 1957 film Bayou was re-released by producer M.A. Ripps under the title Poor White Trash, with added nudity and a marketing campaign featuring warnings about the "abnormal" subject matter. These tactics were so successful that he employed them again when he acquired the rights to this film in 1976, and changed the title to Poor White Trash Part II (even though it had nothing to do with Bayou/Poor White Trash). Unlike the earlier film, we can find no evidence that Ripps added new footage to the re-release of Scum of the Earth. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
