An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Devil's Cargo, the 1925 Victor Fleming silent Sacramento California Gold Rush newspaper gambling romantic crime melodrama ("From the story by Charles E. Whittaker"; a wild story of a man who is a newspaper editor during the gold rush in Sacramento, and he crusades to reform the city, but he gets involved with what he thinks is the daughter of a minister, but it turns out she is the daughter of a gambling saloon owner who performs there, and he is found with her, and labeled a hypocrite, and both of them are deported by ship along with a bunch of other unwanted people, and they are labeled the "Devil's Cargo", because they are undesirables, and that is only the beginning of this involved melodrama) starring Pauline Starke, Wallace Beery, William Collier Jr., Claire Adams, Raymond Hatton, and George Cooper. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster had many creases and tiny tears across the top foldline and there were extra creases across the middle foldline. There was an extra horizontal fold 1 1/2" below the regular horizontal fold and there were some creases in the area between those two folds. There were some scattered creases throughout the image. There were creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed years ago on to a thin linen, and no excess border around the linen, and over the years, the poster has begun "lifting" from the linen. Any talented restorer could re-back the poster on to a better quality linen. Learn More about condition grades
