It was founded in 1917 by Thomas L. Tally and J.D. Williams as a merger of 26 first-run cinemas in response to Paramount's market domination. First National partially merged with Warner Brothers in 1928, and then completely merged in 1936. First National has the distinction of making the first million-dollar contracts in the history of film, with Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin! Important Added Info: Note that this 8-page trade ad was originally bound into the September 24, 1931 issue of Kinematograph Weekly. It is printed on a high quality paper stock, and it shows all the upcoming First National releases in England (see our images of all pages). Condition: very good.
